Lyrics to the hymn, Crown Him With Many Crowns

Image
The road and trees      Introduction Hello, and welcome the Mother of Gooses blog; I hope that your stay is satisfactory. Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, Crown Him With Many Crowns; it was written in 1851 by Matthew Bridges and Godfrey Thring. It is now published in 786 hymnals, which is less than some hymns, more than others.  It is a praise song, and it is the favorite hymn of somebody that I love dearly.  If you don't know how the tune goes, look up Kaleb Brasee on YouTube; he plays it on the piano, and he does a good job, as usual. See you in the afterwards. Wow, that was lame. A country-side  The Lyrics  Verse 1  Crown Him with many crowns, The Lamb upon His throne; Hark! How the heav'nly anthem drowns All music but its own! Awake, my soul, and sing Of Him who died for thee, And hail Him as thy matchless King  Through all eternity. Verse 2  Crown Him the Lord of love! Behold His hands and side; Rich wounds, yet visible above, In beauty glorified! N

Lyrics to the hymn, Because He Lives

Introduction  Hello, my friends whom I have never seen and probably never will, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I write the lyrics to hymns, recipes, and then just some facts about anything that strikes my fancy at that particular moment.. Today we are looking at the hymn by Gloria and Bill Gaither, Because He Lives; they wrote it in 1971, and it is now published in 58 hymnals. That isn't as many as some songs, but it is still a lot.  Because He Lives is about how we can go through life with the knowledge that Jesus is living, and will help us when we call upon His name. If you don't know how the tune goes, go to YouTube and look up Carrie Underwood; she did a nice job, if you excuse the fact that she doesn't sing the whole hymn. Now, on with the show! The Lyrics  Verse 1  God sent His Son, they called him Jesus, He came to love, heal and forgive;  He bled and died to buy my pardon. An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. Chorus

Lyrics to the song, The Wellerman

A sign on a bridge         Introduction Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I ramble about hymns, instruments and things. No niche, just things. Rather random. Today, our random subject is the lyrics to the sea shanty, The Wellerman. I'm not sure who wrote it; probably the men who worked for the Weller family. Go to Folksandhymns to hear the tune, or Nathan Evans. Both do a good job. Now, on with the show! A house and trees            The Lyrics  Verse 1  There once was a ship that put to sea, The name of the shop was the Billy O' Tea; The winds blew up, her bow dipped down, Oh blow, my bully boys, blow. Verse 2  She'd been not two weeks from shore  When down on her a Right whale bore; The captain called all hands and swore He'd take that whale in tow. Chorus Soon may the Wellerman come, To bri

Proverbs 31

Mountains and the road        Introduction Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog; I hope that I can answer any questions that you might have. I have recently decided that at least once a month I would be posting a chapter from a book in the Bible. I have the NIV Bible, so I hope that you don't mind.  Today, we are reading Proverbs 31, one of the best passages in the Bible. Proverbs is, honestly, one of the best books in the Bible; it has a lot of sound advice, good warnings, and it can help you know what is right and wrong.  Proverbs 31 mainly talks about how a woman should be. Women, read this to learn how you should be. Men, read this to find out what kind of woman you want to marry. On to the chapter!  Mountain View  The Chapter  The sayings of King Lemuel- an inspired utterance his mother taught him. Listen, my son! Listen, son of my womb! Listen, my son, the answer to my prayers! Do not spend your strength on women,  Your vigor on those who ruin king

Lyrics to the hymn, Be In Time

A pretty country-side  Introduction  Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog; I hope that your questions are answered in this blog post. Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, Be In Time. I am not sure who wrote it, or when. Sorry. It is about how we can't know how long we are going to life, and should therefore be trying to live for Jesus. If you don't know how the tune goes, look up Squirrel 24 on YouTube; it is my favorite version of the song, and the congregation did a pretty good job. Now, on with the show! (Sorry, can't think of a better outro) Unprofessionally taken, but it looks cool The Lyrics  Verse 1  Life at best is very brief,  Like the falling of a leaf, Like the binding of  a sheaf,  Be in time. Fleeting days are telling fast That the die will soon be cast, And the fatal line be passed, Be in time. Chorus Be in time, be in time; While the voice of Jesus calls you, Be in time. If in sin you longer wait,  You may find no open gate, An

Mossy logs Introduction  Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn by Charlotte Elliot, Just As I Am. She wrote it in 1835, and it is now published in over 2,000 hymnals. Both Carrie Underwood and Alan Jackson sang it, so that's where you go to learn the tune. Personally, I listen to Carrie's version more. Just As I Am is about coming to Christ, and trusting that He will take away your sins. Now, as I have nothing else to add, on with the show! The Lyrics  Verse 1 Just as I am, without one plea, But that Thy blood was shed for me, And that Thou bid'st me come to Thee, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! Verse 2 Just as I am, and waiting not,  To rid my soul of one dark blot; To Thee who's blood can cleanse each spot, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! Verse 3 Just as I am, though tossed about,  With many a conflict, many a doubt; Fightings within, and fears without, O Lamb of God, I come! I come! Verse

Verse 2  Jesus is all the world to me, My friend in trials sore; I go to Him for blessings and  He gives the o'er and o'er. He sends

Random Chatty Day: Guernsey Cattle

Image
Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I talk about hymns, instruments, recipes, and animals.  Today, we are looking at the Guernsey Cattle breed. I have recently decided that I really like the Guernsey, because they are AMAZING. The average Guernsey cow gives 4.6 to 5.5 gallons of milk per day. That is a lot. And this isn't just any milk either; the Guernsey gives milk that is high in protein and butterfat.  So when you let the milk sit in the fridge for a several hours, the cream comes to the top, you can skim it, and then you can shake it and make the precious baking substance known as butter. And, since the Guernsey is a medium-sized cow, you are giving it 20 to 30 percent less feed for each pound of milk that you get, compared to the much bigger Holstein. And how are they for beef, you might ask. The beef from a Guernsey is said to be delicious; however, the fat is yellow, and, being incredibly picky and spoiled, people don't like that. Come on, people! It&
