Lyrics to the hymn, Revive Us Again
Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog; I hope that I can answer any questions that you might have.
Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn by William P. Mackay, Revive Us Again; he wrote it between 1863-1867, and it is now published in 1,231 hymnals.
I first heard it on Folksandhymns, and it is now one of my favorite hymns.
Now, on with the show, for lack of better words.
The Lyrics
Verse 1
We praise Thee, o God,
For the Son of Thy love,
For Jesus who died
And is now gone above.
Chorus
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again!
Verse 2
We praise Thee, o God,
For Thy Spirit of light,
Who hath shown us our Savior
And scattered our night.
Chorus
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again!
Verse 3
We praise Thee, o God,
For the joy Thou hast giv'n
To Thy saints in communion,
These foretastes of Heav'n.
Chorus
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again!
Verse 4
All glory and praise
To the Lamb that was slain,
Who hath borne all our sins,
And hath cleansed every stain.
Chorus
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again!
Verse 5
All glory and praise
To the God of all grace,
Who hath bought us, and sought us,
And guided our ways.
Chorus
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again!
Verse 6
Revive us again,
Fill each heart with Thy love;
May each soul be rekindled
With fire from above.
Chorus
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Hallelujah! Amen.
Hallelujah! Thine the glory.
Revive us again!
