Lyrics to the song, Jerusalem

Image
Trees and a mountain      Introduction  Hello, vitamins, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I attempt to be funny. Today, we are going to look at the lyrics to the Christian song, Jerusalem; I wish I could tell you when it was written, but it is virtually impossible to find THAT information, so... It was released in 2015, and was written by Rich Thompson, Johnny Robinson and Tiarne Kleyn. It really is a pretty song, and I hope that you like it. Cityalight sings it, so I suggest going to YouTube and look that up. Enjoy! The Lyrics  Verse 1 See Him in Jerusalem,  Walking where the crowds are;  Once these streets had sung to Him, Now they cry for murder. Such a frail and lonely man, Holding up the heavy cross; See Him walking in Jerusalem,  On the road to save us. Verse 2 See Him there upon the hill, Hear the scorn and laughter; Silent as a lamb He waits, Praying to the Father. See the King who made the sun,  And the moon and shining stars, Let the soldiers ho

Lyrics to the song, El Shaddai

Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello... This could go on forever. Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog were I try to be annoying and somewhat informative at the same time; I think that I succeed. Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the song by John Thompson and Michael Card, El Shaddai. It was released in 1981, and it is inspired by one of the Hebrew names for God, El Shaddai. It means God Almighty. Apparently, Michael Card and Amy Grant are the ONLY people who sing the song, which is kind of annoying. I mean, it's a GORGEOUS song, and I think that more people can stand to sing. Please, Carrie, please. Anyway, I hope you like it. It starts with the chorus before the first verse, which isn't exactly normal. But, normal or not, it really is nice, and I want to make it more popular. Look, go to YouTube, look up Carrie Underwood, open one of her songs... And comment,  nicely asking her to sing El Shadd

Lyrics to the hymn, Standing On The Promises

Image
Hello, friends and enemies alike, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog. Today, we are looking at the hymn that a Mr. Russel Kelso Carter wrote in 1886 titled Standing On The Promises.  It is currently published in 446 hymnals, which is older than I am!!! Nevermind. Point stands, that's a lot. It's a very pretty song, and if you don't know the whole song, go to YouTube and look up Alan Jackson's version of it, or Squirrel 24's lyric video. Naturally, Alan Jackson doesn't sing the whole song. Enjoy! Verse 1 Standing on the promises of Christ my King, Through eternal ages let his praises ring; Glory in the highest I will shout and sing,  Standing on the promises of God! Chorus Standing, standing, Standing on the promises of God my Savior! Standing, standing, I'm standing on the promises of God! Verse 2 Standing on the promises that cannot fail, When the howling storms of doubt and fear assail; By the living  Word of God I shall prevail, Standing on the pr

Lyrics to the hymn, Are You Washed In The Blood

Picture of a path in the woods   Introduction Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I don't really have a niche; I should work on that. Anyway, today, we are looking at the lyrics to see the hymn by Elisha Hoffman in 1878, Are You Washed In The Blood. It is a question, asking if you are trusting in Jesus as your Savior, and if you will you be ready when He comes. If you don't know how the tune goes, look up Alan Jackson or Randy Travis. Now, on with the show!      The Lyrics  Verse 1  Have you been to Jesus for the cleansing power? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Are you fully trusting in His grace this hour? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Chorus Are you washed in the blood? In the soul cleansing blood of the Lamb? Are your garments spotless? Are they white as snow? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Verse 2  Are you walking daily by the Savior's side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Do you rest each moment

Lyrics to the hymn, Love Lifted Me

Image
Hello, friends and neighbors, and welcome to another one of the ramblings of the Mother of Gooses blog, were I say sometimes sensible things. Today, we are looking at the lyrics to James Rowe's hymn, Love Lifted Me; he wrote it in 1912, and it is today published in 256 hymnals. That's a lot. Honestly, I think that at at some point in my life, love DID lift me; I was going through some mental health problems, and was quite miserable.  And God helped me get through my problems, and now I'm functioning as well as a scatterbrained beagle owner can.e Remember: God loves you, and WILL help you, no matter what the problem is. All you have to do is ask Him to help, and be willing to cooperate with what He wants you to do to feel okay again. You may not get better, but He will give you strength to face your problems and fight 'em like a wild cat. I don't have many other comments, except that if you don't know the tune, go to Alan Jackson on YouTube; he does a pretty good

Random Chatty Day: Octobass

Image
Hello, hello, and welcome to another Random Chatty Day! Today, we are going to talk about the biggest instrument in the world, the octobass. It was first made in Paris around 1850, by Jean-Baptiste Vuillaume, a French luthier. There are only 7 octobass in the world, and all but one are in museums. The one outside of the museums is the one that belongs to the Montreal symphony orchestra. But why are they so uncommon?   Because they are HUGE. They typically stand at 11 to 12 feet tall which is higher than your average ceiling. Wow. And they weigh about 290 pounds, which is... A lot. Like, that's more than the massive English mastiff. The octobass has 3 strings, which are tuned to a very low C, G, and D. 0, 0, and 1, to be exact.  Since the octobass is so large, and because of how thick the strings are, when one is played, it is with the assistance of several levers and pulleys. I think it would be easier to just play the violin. While the violin only costs around $200 to $1,000, if

Random Chatty Day: Beagles

Hello, dog-lovers and dog-haters alike, and welcome to another Random Chatty Day! Today, we are talking about beagles. You know, the adorable little dogs that are super cute, super friendly and super naughty? I would know what beagles are like; I am the owner of one, and I have mixed feelings about. Is it neat to have a dog? Yes. Is it friendly? Yes. Does it listen to me? Kind of. You see, my beagle has ZERO recall, and is about as potty-trained as my accordion. I don't have a accordion. My point stands. My dog really is a sweetheart, a real people dog, like all beagles. Beagles are hounds, originally bred to hunt rabbits. The result is a dog that is fast, has a ridiculous sense of smell, and a high prey drive. Honestly, I think they feel unbalanced if their nose isn't a half inch away from the ground. They are amazing family dogs, and prone to getting over-weight, as they will eat anything and everything, from the banana bread on the stove to plastic bags, to your lamp cord.

Lyrics to the hymn, And Can It Be a.k.a Amazing Love

Image
Hello, friends and neighbors. Welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, were I, a Mother of Gooses, write about whatever strikes my fancy at that particular minute. And today, we are looking at the lyrics to Charles Wesley's hymn, And Can It Be. It was written in the year 1738, and is about his conversion to Christianity.  It is a simply wonderful hymn, and it is also fairly common. But, if you don't know the melody, go to YouTube and look up Folksandhymns. She does a very good job, and is now one of my favorite hymn singers. Now, on with the show!  Verse 1 And can it be that I should gain An int'rest in the Savior's blood? Died He for me, who caused His pain? For me, who Him to death pursued? Amazing love! How can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me? Amazing love! How can it be That Thou, my God, should die for me? Verse 2 'Tis mystery all! Th' Immortal dies! Who can explore his strange design? In vain the firstborn seraph tries  To sound the depths of love

Morning by morning new mercies I see

Hello, my friends, and welcome to another post of the Mother of Gooses blog, where I talk about nothing in particular. Today, I have a story to tell you; this is a true story, a miracle that God performed in my life. So get ready to either be amazed, confused, or both. A short time ago, I was doing dishes after breakfast, listening to a podcast; a everyday thing, nothing abnormal.  But I had decided to be a total GENIUS and have the tablet right by the sink! I knew you'd be impressed.  Now, our water isn't warm right away; we have to run it for awhile before it's warm enough to do dishes. And since we don't want to run water into the sink for fear of waste, we run it into a quart jar until it's warm. We keep this jar of water by the sink for if people get thirsty while someone's washing the dishes, as nobody likes it when someone gets your warm water cold. As I finished dishes, I was trying to get a very large dish into the full dish drainer. And, wonders of won

Lyrics to the hymn, At Calvary

Image
Hello, hello. I am a Mother of Gooses, and today we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, At Calvary. It is was written by William R. Newell in 1895, and is truly one of my favorite hymns. If you don't know how it goes, look up Squirrel 24 on YouTube; the person singing it did a very good job. Now, on with the show. Verse 1 Years I spent in vanity and pride, Caring not my lord was crucified. Knowing not I was for me he died, On Calvary. Chorus Mercy there was great and grace was free; Pardon there was multiplied to me.   There my burdened soul found liberty, At Calvary. Verse 2 By God's word at last my sin I learned; Then I trembled at the law I'd spurned. 'Til my guilty soul imploring turned  To Calvary. Chorus Mercy there was great and grace was free; Pardon there was multiplied to me. There my burdened soul found liberty, At Calvary. Verse 3 Now I've given Jesus everything; Now, I gladly own him as my king; Now, my raptured soul can only sing  Of Calvary. Chorus

Lyrics to the song, In Christ Alone

Picture of trees and a mountain from inside a car     Introduction Hello, friends and family. Welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I, a Mother of Gooses, write recipes, lyrics, whatever you want.  And today, we are looking at the lyrics to the song, In Christ Alone.  It is a fairly new song written by Keith and Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townsend, in 2001. But, for a modern song, it's really nice. In fact, it is one of my favorite songs of all time, and it's very difficult to find a decent recording of someone singing it, but I finally did.  So if you don't know how the tune goes, go to Squirrel 24, or Keith and Kristyn Getty on YouTube; those are some of the better recordings.  Now, on with the show! Trees     The Lyrics  Verse 1 In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song; This corner stone, this solid ground, Firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, When fears are stilled, whe

Lyrics to the hymn, This Is My Father's world

Image
Introduction  Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I write the lyrics to hymns, and the occasional recipe. Today, the hymn we are looking at is called This Is My Father's World; it was written in 1901 by a Mr. Maltbie Davenport Babcock. It was originally a poem with sixteen verses, but when it was set to music, only three verses were chosen. A tree and a bush Someday I might do the whole poem, but today, I'm just going to do the three that I know. Let me know if you want me to do the whole poem. Go to YouTube and look up Folksandhymns to find the tune. Now, on with the show! The Lyrics  Verse 1 This is my Father's world; And to my listening ears, All nature sings  And 'round me rings  The music of the spheres. This is my Father's world;  I rest me in the thought Of rocks and trees, Of skies and seas. His hand the wonders wrought. Verse 2 This is my Father's world; The birds, their carols raise. The morning light,  The lily whit

Lyrics to the hymn, The Old Rugged Cross

Image
Hello, friends and neighbors. Welcome to another post of the Mother of Gooses blog. Today, we are looking at the lyrics to hymn, the old rugged cross; written in 1913 by a Mr. George Bennard, it talks about how Jesus died a a cross to save us from our own wicked selves. It has four verses that I know of, and it is a very nice hymn, which both Carrie Underwood and Alan jackson sang; so go there if you want to hear it. Now, let's get this show on the road! Verse 1 On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,  The emblem of suffering and shame. And I love that old cross where the dearest and best For a world of lost sinners was slain. Chorus So I'll cherish the old rugged cross, Til my trophies at last I lay down. I will cling to the old rugged cross, And exchange it some day for a crown. Verse 2 O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world, Has a wondrous attraction for me; For the dear lamb of God left his glory above, To bear it to dark Calvary. Chorus So I'll cheris

I have decided to follow Jesus

Image
Hello, hello, hello, friends and neighbors. Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, " I have decided to follow Jesus". Written by Simon Marack around 1958, it is a very pretty song, as well as a simple one; well, the words are simple, not the tune. You see, you have to jump up WHOLE octave, and if you started too high... You get the picture.  If you don't know how the tune goes, find Lydia Walker on YouTube; she does a pretty good job. Do I wish Carrie Underwood sang it... Yes. Verse 1 I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus,, No turning back, no turning back. Verse 2 The world behind me, the cross before me; The world behind me, the cross before me; The world behind me, the cross before me; No turning back, no turning back. Verse 3  Though none go with me, I still will follow; Though none go with me, I still will follow; Though none go with me, I still will follow; No turning back, no turning back. Verse 4
