Lyrics to the hymn, I Will Sing Of My Redeemer

Mountains and a power line
Introduction

Hello, and welcome to my blog, known as the Mother of Gooses blog; I hope that I can shed some light on anything that you are wondering about.

Today, we are looking at the hymn by Phillip Bliss, I Will Sing Of My Redeemer; he wrote it in 1876, and it is, in 2024, published in 315 hymnals.

If you don't know the tune, go to YouTube and look up Kaleb Brasee or Folksandhymns.

See you later!

      The Lyrics

Verse 1

I will sing of my Redeemer,

And His wondrous love to me;

On the cruel cross He suffered,

From the curse to set me free.

Chorus

Sing, oh sing, of my Redeemer,

With His blood He purchased me;

On the cross, He sealed my pardon,

Paid the debt, and made me free.

Verse 2

I will tell the wondrous story,

How my lost estate to save,

In His boundless love and mercy,

He the ransom freely gave.

Chorus

Sing, oh sing, of my Redeemer,

With His blood He purchased me;

On the cross, He sealed my pardon,

Paid the debt, and made me free.

Verse 3

I will praise my dear Redeemer,

His triumphant pow'r I'll tell:

How the victory He giveth

Over sin, and death, and hell.

Chorus

Sing, oh sing, of my Redeemer,

With His blood He purchased me;

On the cross, He sealed my pardon,

Paid the debt, and made me free.

Verse 4

I will sing of my Redeemer,

And His heav'nly love to me;

He from death the life hath brought me,

Son of God with Him to be.

Chorus

Sing, oh sing, of my Redeemer,

With His blood He purchased me;

On the cross, He sealed my pardon,

Paid the debt, and made me free.

Afterwards

I have known that song for a long time; I mean, I still need a hymnal, but I have the frame of it.

It strikes me as a sad song; why?

Because it was found after Mr. Bliss died in a train wreck.

You see, he was travelling with his wife, and the train went down a ravine.

He managed to get out, but his wife was still trapped; so he went back to get her, and they both died in the fires.

Rest in peace, my friend.
