Lyrics to the hymn, Because He Lives

  Introduction

Hello, my friends whom I have never seen and probably never will, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I write the lyrics to hymns, recipes, and then just some facts about anything that strikes my fancy at that particular moment..

Today we are looking at the hymn by Gloria and Bill Gaither, Because He Lives; they wrote it in 1971, and it is now published in 58 hymnals.

That isn't as many as some songs, but it is still a lot.

Because He Lives is about how we can go through life with the knowledge that Jesus is living, and will help us when we call upon His name.

If you don't know how the tune goes, go to YouTube and look up Carrie Underwood; she did a nice job, if you excuse the fact that she doesn't sing the whole hymn.

Now, on with the show!

The Lyrics

Verse 1

God sent His Son, they called him Jesus,

He came to love, heal and forgive;

He bled and died to buy my pardon.

An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Chorus

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow;

Because He lives, all fear is gone.

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living just because He lives.

Verse 2

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,

And feel the pride and joy he gives;

But greater still, the calm assurance,

This child can face uncertain days, because He lives.

Chorus

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow;

Because He lives, all fear is gone.

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living just because He lives.

Verse 3

And then one day, I'll cross the river;

I'll fight life's final war with pain.

And then as death gives way to victr'y,

I'll see the lights of glory, and I'll know He lives.

Chorus

Because He lives, I can face tomorrow;

Because He lives, all fear is gone.

Because I know He holds the future,

And life is worth the living just because He lives.

  Afterwards

Isn't it beautiful? I used to not like it very much, but now it's on my list of favorite hymns.

It doesn't rhyme all the time, but I still like it. Obviously.

If there is a particular subject that you want me to cover, let me know down in the comments; I would love to hear your opinions.

I post on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Random Chatty Days.

Goodbye, and God bless.
