Lyrics to the song, In Christ Alone

    Introduction

Hello, friends and family. Welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I, a Mother of Gooses, write recipes, lyrics, whatever you want.

And today, we are looking at the lyrics to the song, In Christ Alone.

It is a fairly new song written by Keith and Kristyn Getty and Stuart Townsend, in 2001. But, for a modern song, it's really nice. In fact, it is one of my favorite songs of all time, and it's very difficult to find a decent recording of someone singing it, but I finally did.

So if you don't know how the tune goes, go to Squirrel 24, or Keith and Kristyn Getty on YouTube; those are some of the better recordings.

Now, on with the show!

    The Lyrics

Verse 1

In Christ alone my hope is found,

He is my light, my strength, my song;

This corner stone, this solid ground,

Firm through the fiercest drought and storm.

What heights of love, what depths of peace,

When fears are stilled, when strivings cease;

My comforter, my all in all, here in the love of Christ I stand.

Verse 2

In Christ alone, who took on flesh;

Fullness of God in helpless babe.

This gift of love, and righteousness,

Scorned by the ones he came to save.

'Til on that cross, as Jesus died,

The wrath of God was satisfied;

For every sin on him was laid.

Here in the death of Christ I live.

Verse 3

There is the ground his body lay,

Light of the world by darkness slain.

Then bursting forth, in glorious day,

Up from the grave he rose again.

And as he stands in victory,

Sin's curse has lost its grip on me.

For I am his, and he is mine,

Bought with precious blood of Christ.

Verse 4

No guilt in life, no fear in death,

This is the power of Christ in me.

From life's first cry, to final breath,

Jesus commands my destiny.

And no power of hell, no scheme of man,

Can ever pluck me from his hand.

'Til he returns, or calls me home,

Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

Afterwards

I just love the last verse, don't you? I really love the whole song, but the last verse is super relevant to my life.
