Lyrics to the song, Let The Good Guys Win (By Toot Sweet)

A cliff

Introduction

 Hello. I am a Mother of Gooses and a lover of hymns; I consider them to be a work of art. And they bring glory to God, our Creator and Redeemer, and Friend.

A very snowy day

The Subject At Hand

Hello, my friends. Today is the last day of 2024, and let me tell you: I'm exhausted.

God threw so many things at us this year; it was trying to juggle hot coals while also trying not to sink into quicksand. Doesn't that sound tiresome?

2024 hasn't been all bad; nothing ever is. At the end of this post, I will share some of the highlights of this year.

For now, we'll be looking at the lyrics to the song, Let The Good Guys Win; Toot Sweet sang it, (I don't know when) and she did a great job.

I'll leave some links down below, so that you can hear this song for yourself.

The Lyrics

Verse 1

May I get what I want, and not what I deserve;

May the coming year not throw a single peril;

May I hurt nobody, may I tell no lies;

If I can't go on, give me the strength to try.

Refrain

Bring the old year out, bring the new year in,

Bring us all good luck, let the good guys win;

Bring the old year out, bring the new year in,

Bring us all good luck, let the good guys win.

Verse 2

May the one you love be the one you get;

May you get some place you haven't been to yet;

And may your friends around you never do you harm,

May your eyes be clear and may your heart be strong.

Refrain

Bring the old year out, bring the new year in,

Bring us all good luck, let the good guys win;

Bring the old year out, bring the new year in,

Bring us all good luck, let the good guys win.

Verse 3

May the times to come be the best you've had;

May peace rule the world, let it make us glad;

When you see something wrong, try and make it right;

Throw a shadowed world into the bright sunlight.

Refrain

Bring the old year out, bring the new year in,

Bring us all good luck, let the good guys win;

Bring the old year out, bring the new year in,

Bring us all good luck, let the good guys win.

Afterwards

Let me tell you something funny:

I listened to this song last year. And now I'm listening to it and thinking about how 2024 contradicted this song.

We live in such a sad, broken world. Honestly, we need the judgement of God.

We need judgement, and yet He blesses us.

Reflection

Now it's time to talk about what God has done in my life this year.

Number one: the total solar eclipse.

That was something that I will hold near to my heart; watching the moon come in front of the sun and cast a shadow over the earth was breathtaking and a once in a lifetime experience.

Indeed, the heavens declare the glory of God.

Number two: Olive Tree Hymns.

I've often talked about Olive Tree Hymns, and I am so grateful to God that I found them. They have helped me through this year by singing praises to God and posting it on YouTube, so that the whole world could listen.

If you haven't subscribed to them, go do it. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Olive Tree Hymns.

Number three: the Mother of Gooses blog.

This blog has been a blessing; it has helped me learn so many things, and while I made a lot of mistakes in the beginning, it has helped me grow.

Number four: my fellow Christians.

We are surrounded by absolutely amazing friends, and our family has been amazing. I honestly don't know what I would've done without them.

Number five: the trials of 2024.

God always has a plan; and while I don't know what it is, I know that God is in control, and that He is using trials to shape me and makes me a better person.

And that's what He's doing for you, too. If you are going through trials, God hasn't given up on you. He loves you, and sent His Son to die for you.

If you aren't a Christian, all that you need to do is trust in Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, and believe that He was raised from the dead, after He died for you.

Happy New Years! May the good guys win.
