Road, mountains, dashboard, and the very blue sky

Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I write about hymns, instruments, recipes, and animals; I hope that I can answer any questions that you might have.

The Subject At Hand

Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, Take The Name Of Jesus With You by Lydia Baxter; she wrote it in 1870, and it is now published in 634 hymnals.

If you don't know how the tune goes, I'll leave some links down below.

Now, onto the subject!

Hey, I'm a poet, and didn't even know it.😉

The Lyrics

Verse 1

Take the Name of Jesus with you,

Child of suffering and of woe,

It will joy and comfort give you;

Take it then where'er you go.

Refrain

Precious Name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n;

Precious Name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n.

Verse 2

Take the Name of Jesus ever,

As a shield from every snare;

If temptations round you gather,

Breathe that holy Name in prayer.

 Refrain

 Precious Name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n;

Precious name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n.

Verse 3

Oh the precious Name of Jesus!

How it thrills our souls with joy,

When His loving arms receive us,

And His songs our tongues employ!

Refrain

Precious Name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n;

Precious Name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n.

Verse 4

At the Name of Jesus bowing,

Falling prostrate at His feet,

King of kings in Heav'n we'll crown Him,

When our journey is complete.

Refrain

Precious Name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n;

Precious Name, oh, how sweet!

Hope of earth and joy of Heav'n.

Afterwards

"If temptations round you gather, breathe that holy Name in prayer."

That is beautiful. Lydia Baxter did a wonderful job.

Hymns are beautiful; it is amazing how people can use words to tell such a powerful story. There are so many hymns with such a deep spiritual depth, that tell such an amazing story, and that fit a beautiful tune; it gives you such a feeling of worship, and you want to sing them all day. It helps you praise God.

Take the Name of Jesus with you, child of suffering and of woe. It will strength and comfort give you, take it then where'er you go.

A pretty morning
