Lyrics to the hymn, I Will Praise Him

The sun during a solar eclipse

Introduction
Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog; I hope that I can answer any questions that you might have.

Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, I Will Praise Him, by Margaret J. Harris; it was copyrighted in 1898, and Miss Harris edited it in 1910.

If you don't know how the tune goes, go to YouTube and look up Kaleb Brasee; he, as usual, did a nice job with his piano playing.

Now, on with the show!

A dashboard, stone bridge, and trees

          The Lyrics

Verse 1

When I saw the cleansing fountain

Open wide for all my sin,

I obeyed The Spirit's wooing,

When He said, "Wilt thou be clean?"

Chorus

I will praise Him! I will praise Him!

Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;

Give Him glory, all ye people,

For His blood can wash away each stain.

Verse 2

Though the way seemed straight and narrow,

All I claimed was swept away;

My ambitions, plans and wishes

At my feet in ashes lay.

Chorus

I will praise Him! I will praise Him!

Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;

Give Him glory, all ye people,

For His blood can wash away each stain.

Verse 3

Then God's fire upon the altar

Of my heart was set aflame;

I shall never cease to praise Him,

Glory, glory to His Name!

Chorus

I will praise Him! I will praise Him!

Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;

Give Him glory, all ye people,

For His blood can wash away each stain.

Verse 4

Blessed be the Name of Jesus!

I'm so glad He took me in;

He's forgiven my transgressions,

He has cleansed my heart from sin.

Chorus

I will praise Him! I will praise Him!

Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;

Give Him glory, all ye people,

For His blood can wash away each stain.

Verse 5

Glory, glory to the Father!

Glory, glory to the Son!

Glory, glory to the Spirit!

Glory to the Three in One!

Chorus

I will praise Him! I will praise Him!

Praise the Lamb for sinners slain;

Give Him glory, all ye people,

For His blood can wash away each stain.

Mountains, snow, trees, and a dashboard

 Afterwards

It is a nice song; I like the fifth verse.

I have a challenge for you:

Meditate on the meaning of each verse for about five minutes, then thank God for the gifts He has given you.

A rearview mirror, snow, and trees

Please let me know down in the comments what you thought of today's post; do the same if there is a certain subject that you want me to cover.

I send out new content every Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and the occasional Random Chatty Day; go to past posts to read more.

Goodbye, and God bless.
