Lyrics to the hymn, He Hideth My Soul

Trees on a dark night

Introduction
Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I write about hymns, instruments, recipes, and animals; I hope that I can answer any questions that you might have.

The Subject At Hand

Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, He Hideth My Soul, by Frances J. Crosby in 1890; it is super pretty, and it gives a beautiful message.

I think that this is the first hymn by Miss Crosby that I've done, so that's kind of neat.

If you don't know how the tune goes, I'll leave some links at the bottom of the post.

Now, on with the show!

He Hideth My Soul

The Lyrics

Verse 1

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,

A wonderful Savior to me;

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,

Where rivers of pleasure I see.

Refrain

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,

That shadows a dry, thirsty land;

He hideth my life in the depths of His love,

And covers me there with His hand,

And covers me there with His hand.

Verse 2

A wonderful Savior is Jesus my Lord,

He taketh my burden away;

He holdeth me up and I shall not be moved,

He giveth me strength as my day.

Refrain

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,

That shadows a dry, thirsty land;

He hideth my life in the depths of His love,

And covers me there with His hand,

And covers me there with His hand.

Verse 3

With numberless blessings each moment He crowns,

And filled with His fullness divine,

I sing in my rapture, "Oh, glory to God,

For such a Redeemer as mine!"

Refrain

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,

That shadows a dry, thirsty land;

He hideth my life in the depths of His love,

And covers me there with His hand,

And covers me there with His hand.

Verse 4

When clothed in His brightness transported I rise

To meet Him in clouds of the sky,

His perfect salvation, His wonderful love,

I'll shout with the millions on high.

Refrain

He hideth my soul in the cleft of the rock,

That shadows a dry, thirsty land;

He hideth my life in the depths of His love,

And covers me there with His hand,

And covers me there with His hand.

Afterwards

Well, what do you think? Fanny Crosby was quite the poet. And she couldn't even see! Isn't that cool?

"His perfect salvation, His wonderful love, I'll shout with the millions on high."

I can't wait to get to Heaven; I want to see Jesus and not have to put up with the nonsense here on Earth anymore.

But, my work here is not done; I still have to do what God has ordered for my life, pleasant or not so pleasant, or downright painful.

He will lead you and me safely through this life, and then we will see Heaven.

Praise the Lord.🙏❤️

A stormy sky
