The Subject At Hand

Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, God Leads His Dear Children Along; written by George A. Young in 1903, it is a hymn about how God helps us on our way through the world, leading His dear children along.

If you don't know how the tune goes, I'll leave some links down below; trust me, if I leave a link to it, it's good.

Now, on with the show!

Something

The Lyrics

Verse 1

In shady, green pastures, so rich and so sweet,

God leads His dear children along;

Where the water's cool flow bathes the weary one's feet,

God leads His dear children along.

Chorus

Some through the waters, some through the flood,

Some through the fire, but all through the blood;

Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,

In the night season and all the day long.

Verse 2

Sometimes on the mount where the sun shines so bright,

God leads His dear children along;

Sometimes in the valley, in darkest of night,

God leads His dear children along.

Chorus

Some through the waters, some through the flood,

Some through the fire, but all through the blood;

Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,

In the night season and all the day long.

Verse 3

Though sorrows befall us and Satan oppose,

God leads His dear children along;

Through grace we can conquer, defeat all our foes,

God leads His dear children along.

Chorus

Some through the waters, some through the flood,

Some through the fire, but all through the blood;

Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,

In the night season and all the day long.

Verse 4

Away from the mire, and away from the clay,

God leads His dear children along;

Away up in glory, eternity's day,

God leads His dear children along.

Chorus

Some through the waters, some through the flood,

Some through the fire, but all through the blood;

Some through great sorrow, but God gives a song,

In the night season and all the day long.

Afterwards

Isn't it pretty? I don't have it memorized, but I sure plan on it.

Mr. Young did a great job; it rhymes and fits the tune, and it tells a beautiful story.

"Some through the waters, some through the flood, some through the fire, but all through the blood."

Amen.
