Lyrics to the hymn, I'll Fly Away
Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I write about hymns, instruments, recipes, and animals.
Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn, I'll Fly Away; it was written by Albert E. Brumley in 1929 and was published for the first time in 1932.
If you don't know how the tune goes, look up Alan Jackson or Folksandhymns.
Now, on with the show!
Verse 1
Some glad morning when this life is o'er, I'll fly away;
To that home on God's celestial shore, I'll fly away.
Chorus
I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah by and by, I'll fly away.
Verse 2
When the shadows of this life have grown, I'll fly away;
Like a bird from prison walls has flown, I'll fly away.
Chorus
I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah by and by, I'll fly away.
Verse 3
Oh, how glad and happy when we meet, I'll fly away;
No more cold iron shackles on my feet, I'll fly away.
Chorus
I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah by and by, I'll fly away.
Verse 4
Just a few more weary days and then, I'll fly away;
To a land where joy shall never end, I'll fly away.
Chorus
I'll fly away, oh glory, I'll fly away;
When I die, hallelujah by and by, I'll fly away.
It really is a nice song, though Alan Jackson skipped half of it.
It is one of my favorite songs, and I hope that you like it too.
If you believe in Jesus, you have the hope of flying away to be with Jesus when you die; if you don't love Jesus, then you will go to Hell.
Accept Jesus into your heart today, and experience the love and joy that He brings into your life.
Let me know what you thought of today's post down in the comments; I love hearing from you.
