Lyrics to the hymn, There Is Power In The Blood

A forest/field scene

   Introduction

Hello, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog, where I prove that I truly am scatterbrained.

Today, we are looking at the lyrics to the hymn by Lewis E. Jones, There Power In The Blood; he wrote in 1899, and it is now published in 347 hymnals.

This song is about how Jesus' blood can wash your sin's away, and cleanse you in His love.

If you don't know how the tune goes, find Alan Jackson on YouTube; he did a very nice job.

Now, on with the show!

A house against the sun

    The Lyrics

Verse 1

Would you be free from your burden of sin?

There's pow'e in the blood, power in the blood!

Would you o'er evil a victory win?

There's wonderful power in the blood!

Chorus

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the blood of the Lamb;

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Verse 2

Would you be free from your passion and pride?

There's power in the blood, power in the blood!

Come for a cleansing to Calvary's tide;

There's wonderful power in the blood!

Chorus

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the blood of the Lamb;

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Verse 3

Would you be whiter, much whiter, than snow?

There's power in the blood, power in the blood!

Sin-stains are lost in its life-giving flow,

There's wonderful power in the blood!

Chorus

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the blood of the Lamb;

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the precious blood of the Lamb.

Verse 4

Would you do service for Jesus your King?

There's power in the blood, power in the blood!

Would you live daily His praises to sing?

There's wonderful power in the blood!

Chorus

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the blood of the Lamb;

There is power, power, wonder-working power,

In the precious blood of the Lamb.

              Afterwards

Well, that's it! It has a very catchy tune, and it actually rhymes; what a relief.

Believe it or not, it is easier to remember something when it rhymes; keep that in mind if you want to write poems.

If there is anything that you want me to write about, tell me in the comments so that I can help you out.

I update on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Random Chatty Days, so go to past posts if you want to read more.

Goodbye, and God bless.
