Lyrics to the hymn, All Creatures Of Our God And King

The sun during a solar eclipse

   Introduction

Hello, my friends, and welcome to the Mother of Gooses blog; I hope that I can answer any questions that you might have about today's hymn.

Today's hymn is the one written by St. Francis of Assisi in 1225, All

Creatures Of Our God And King; it was paraphrased by William H. Draper, and is probably the oldest hymn I have done yet.

It is praising God for His creativity in making the world, and telling His creation to praise their Creator.

If you don't know how the tune goes, Folksandhymns sang it, and gave me the inspiration for this post; so go check them out on YouTube.

Now, on with the show!

  The Lyrics

Verse 1

All creatures of our God and King

Lift up your voice and with us sing,

"Alleluia! Alleluia!"

Thou burning sun with golden beam,

Thou silver moon with softer gleam.

O, praise Him! O, praise Him!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Verse 2

Thou rushing wind that art so strong,

Ye clouds that sail in Heaven along,

O, praise Him! Alleluia!

Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice;

Ye lights of evening, find a voice!

O, praise Him! O, praise Him!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Verse 3

Thou flowing water, pure and clear,

Make music for thy Lord to hear,

O, praise Him! Alleluia!

Thou fire so masterful and bright,

That givest man both warmth and light,

O, praise Him! O, praise Him!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Verse 4

And all ye men of tender heart,

Forgiving others take your part!

O, sing ye! Alleluia!

Ye who long pain and sorrow bear,

Praise God, and on Him cast your care!

O, praise Him! O, praise Him!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Verse 5

Let all things their Creator bless,

And worship Him in humbleness!

O, praise Him! Alleluia!

Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son,

And praise the Spirit, Three in One!

O, praise Him! O, praise Him!

Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Isn't it beautiful? It is actually quite easy to write, seeing how all the words blend together. Well done, St. Francis!

We have a truly wonderful creator; tell me, if you had to make the world, what would it be like?

I know what it would be like: Boring.

We humans are actually, believe it or not, are not that creative; I mean, have you seen my artwork?!

We need inspiration with everything we do; cooking, art, writing, everything.
