John 3: 16

John 3: 16

"For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish, but have everlasting life."

Have you heard that verse before?

I have known it from a very young age, along with Genesis 1: 1.

More on that later; today, we are talking about John 3: 16 and what it means for us.

Okay, first line:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son...

Pause. Let's break this down, shall we?

In simple words, he loves us. A lot. And he sent his only son down to earth to die for a race of creatures that kill, steal, lie, and commit atrocities I'm not willing to name. He loves us a lot.

And, remember, Jesus came willingly; it wasn't a, "You have to do this or else." Jesus wanted to come down to a manger, live as a man and die for us.

Continue.

...that whosoever believes in him shall not perish...

Pause.

Jesus came down to us to be beaten, spat upon and then die on a cross, which is one of the worst ways to die. He did this so that we, if we believe in him, we will not die...

...but have everlasting life.

So ends the last part of the verse.

Jesus loves us; and, seeing as Easter is coming up, I think we should at least thank him for what he did, if not tell everyone we meet about him.

Well, that's it!

If you want to read more, go to past posts or wait until next Sunday, Monday, Wednesday or a Random Chatty Day. Bye
